Synthesis, In-vitro antibacterial and antioxidant activity of chalcone derivatives

چکیده

In the face of emergence bacteria resistant to common antibacterials and excessive accumulation free radicals that can cause several diseases, it is important look for new antioxidants. The goal this work was synthesize three chalcones derivatives by Claisen-Schmidt condensation then evaluate their antibacterial antioxidant activities. structure these 3 compounds has been determined NMR (1H 13C) spectroscopy. in vitro activity assessed Microdilution methods, tested against Gram positive (Staphylococcus aureus Bacillus subtilis) gram negative (Escherichia coli Pseudomonas aeruginosa) at different concentrations ranging from 7.82 1000 µg/mL. All synthesized showed good used with a range MIC 62.50 However, (E)-3-(3, 4-dimethoxyphenyl)-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl) prop-2-en-1-one excellent subtilis Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) 62.5 µg/mL which similar standard (Ampicillin) same bacterial strain. Antioxidant evaluated using 2,2-diphenyl2-picryl- hydrazyle ( DPPH) revealed all an IC50 values 8.22; 6.89 3.39 (E)-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl) prop-2-en-1-one, (E)-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3-(4-methoxyphenyl) respectively. These are closer ascorbic acid as standard. results suggest chalcones, especially could be used, after vivo clinical tests, like supplement or even replace current drug therapies.
